ITM Library – Annual Report 2019

01/07/2020

2019 was another difficult year for the ITM library. Staff consisted at most of 2 persons, both part-timers. Nevertheless we managed to maintain basic library services – like timely document delivery (well, most of the time) – and avoid unforeseen closing days or hours (with a few unfortunate exceptions), which would not have been possible without substantial help of one temporary collaborator (3 months) and a job student (1 month).

Luckily our biomedical literature resources remained at the same level, with thousands of E-books and E-journals and dozens of bibliographic databases, all integrated seamlessly in our ever improving EDS Discovery Service.

During summer TropMed Central Antwerp received a major update adding over 500 recent bibliographic records featuring full-text PDFs. PURE research outputs were kept up-to-date on a weekly basis. At the end of the year part of ITM’s computer lab was installed in the library, so we now have a flotilla of 16 state-of-the-art workstations at the disposal of individual students and group classes.
